Wexford

After a very long day on Saturday we finally arrived in Wexford about 10.30pm.  The boys finally fell asleep in the car about 9.30.  Danged little sticky beaks, I think I have the only children in the world that don’t fall asleep easily in the car!

We would have been there earlier but for a hiccup with our car hire.  The delightful institution we bank with was having quarterly maintenance and our credit cards which we needed to guarantee to hire period were being declined.  We couldn’t work out what was going on and we knew we had plenty of funds available on our cards.  Thankfully there were internet terminals just near the car hire and we tried to login to internet banking and found it down for three hours.  From here we found a local phone number on the website to call and were told, sorry, that we wouldn’t be able to use our credit cards until the maintenance was complete.  I wish I had taken a picture of Daryl’s face at the time!  Winking smile

To cut a long story short we eventually received a manual workaround to receive credit authorisation, after demanding to speak to a manager, but this had put us an hour behind.  Thank goodness Rian and Kaelan were in good spirits as it was near 6pm which is often NOT a very good time for wee children.

When we finally got to our car Rian was thrilled to find that is was *GASP* red!!!

We stopped to pick up some belongings from Karina’s house and then for a feast of fish and chips and deep fried sausages (no we will not be losing any weight on this holiday) and then we were on our way to Wexford.

Daryl’s cousins Brendan and his partner Jill were good enough to move out of their house in Wexford and back in with Daryl’s Aunt and Uncle, Sheila and Paddy, so we could have our own space for our stay which was just fantastic.  Here is Brendan’s house below (end of terrace).

Daryl was almost as happy as Rian about the red hire car when he saw the great little pub four doors down from the house!

The pub was made very good use of (mostly by Daryl) during our Wexford stay.
